New Squad Leotards on their way.
As you may know we have been looking at replacing the squad leotards (and scrunchies) to support our new vision for our club.
We are happy to announce that a new design has been chosen and agreed and that we are hoping to have them ordered as soon as possible, hopefully in time to wear them at the October competition.
The feedback received from squad members was that they would like good quality leotards that they will be able to keep themselves. To that effect we have decided that we will order Milano leotards.
We have agreed a subsidy with our sponsor of 50% of the cost and are asking the parents / squad members to pay the other half.
The leotards are normally £40 so we would appreciate it if parents / squad members could pay £20 to the club as soon as possible in order for us to get them in time for the next club competition on October 15th.
Replacements, should they be needed in the future, will be charged at full price (£40).
If you know your / your child’s size (24,26,28,30,32,34 etc) please let Amanda or Dawn know as soon as possible.
Thank you for supporting the Telford Twisters Trampoline Club.

Club are awarded 'GymMark' and 'ClubMark' status
Our club has been awarded 'GymMark' status.
The GymMark Scheme has been developed by British Gymnastics (BG), in partnership with Sport England and the Home Country Sports Councils. Its purpose is to provide recognition for clubs that are committed to providing quality experiences; encouraging young people to take up sport, whilst focusing on improving their talent and maintaining a life long participation in sport. GymMark has helped clubs to grow and develop, improving membership numbers and levels of performance.
What does it mean to us?
Gaining GymMark accreditation means that our club is recognised by British Gymnastics and their partners as a safe, effective and child friendly club, providing a service in the community that children and young people, their parents/carers and others with a passion for Trampolining can trust.
Acquiring GymMark demonstrates the confidence and commitment that British Gymnastics and Sport England have in our club, which will not only maintain existing members but hopefully attract new ones.
It will also allow us to be able to attract more grant funding and potentially reduce outgoing costs..
Many thanks go out to everyone who has been involved in achieving this recognition. Well done!
New Eurotramp trampolines arrive
At last the new trampolines have arrived. HLC took delivery of the 2 Eurotramp trampolines ordered courtesy of the Sport England grant.

Peter, Sian and Amanda attend GMPD course
Peter, Sian and Amanda attended a GMPD course this weekend. GMPD stands for Gymnastics Movement for People with Disabilities. We started off by understanding about disabilities such as autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, ADHD, Fragile X, Visual Impairment, Auditory Impairment, Learning Difficulties, Atlanto Axial Instability, Dyspraxia, William's Syndrome, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Perthes Disease, Amputees, Spinal Curvature, Dwarfism, Mental Health Disorders, Diabetes and Epilepsy.
We were then introduced to lots of fantastic children who suffered from a selection of the above.
Peter made a particular connection with Billy, an autistic boy who had an incredible knowledge of football and Amanda enjoyed the company of Brittany, a Down's Syndrome girl who was incredibly affectionate and a joy to teach.
We were taught to use lots of ancillary aids such as badminton rackets, basketballs, plastic ballpit balls, rounders bats and ballcatchers.
We learned lots of support techniques that can also be used with mainstream trampolinists.
We are now confident that we can properly cater for disabled trampolinists.
Club awarded two grants
The club have been awarded two grants worth a total of £12000 to improve our facilities. This is great news for the club and will help us move forward in the way we have planned.
The first grant is worth £10,000 and comes from Sport England. The second grant is for £2,000 and comes from the Community Policing Fund.
Look out in the coming weeks and months for some shiny new equipment for you to use.

Madeley Academy 6 week squad session a success
The Madeley Academy sessions started with a great success. The first hour was full of three trampolines worth of Madeley Academy children enjoying learning from Nigel and Sian. Many of those stayed on for the next two hours where they were joined by a good number of our squad who had a good workout on some great new Eurotramp trampolines. Let's keep this session going well as it could lead to more growth for the club.
Madeley Academy 6 week squad session
The Madeley Academy Sports and Health Promotion event was a great success in more ways than one. As a consequence of our attendance, we have managed to get a Thursday evening squad session for 6 weeks starting 25th February 2010. The session will be from 5-7pm and will cost £3:00. Those of you that attended the Sports and Health Promotion will know that the trampolines at Madeley are brand new Eurotramps and are great to bounce on. We will only be able to take a maximum of 18 Squad members so, if you can make it please let one of the coaches know as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity and could lead to a more permanent arrangement so please support it.

Jess is no stranger to winning trophies as she has recently won the regional qualifier and was 0.5 points away from qualifying for National level.
We are very proud of you at the club, Jess and look forward to you bringing more success in 2010.

Fundraising ideas required
We would like to have ideas from members on how to raise funds. A number of people are pursuing grants and awards but we also need ideas of more traditional ways of fundraising to supplement the club's funds. Please put your thinking caps on and try and come up with some ideas of ways to boost the club's income. Let Peter or Nigel know of any ideas you have.
Possible new time for training - your opinions required

Thank you to everyone that came this morning
I would like to thank everyone that came to the impromptu session this morning. Unfortunately BBC Radio Shropshire had to send their radio car to the landslide on the A458 between Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury and had to cancel covering our event at the last minute (literally!)
I am trying to get them to come along to one of our regular sessions in the future rather than go through the 5 days of hassle that I had setting this one up.
Once again thanks to those who turned up and I'm sorry it had a somewhat disappointing outcome.
Peter

Check out our new noticeboard!
Those of you that attended Sunday's session will know that we now have a large noticeboard, dedicated to our club, in the area just outside the Phoenix gym. Thanks go to Stuart Allen (Issy's dad) who provided the board and fixed it to the wall for us. We are looking for ideas and suggestions for things to put on the board. Nigel has made a good start and his forum and blog entries tell you more. Let's see if we can make the board come alive with our activities to encourage people to want to join us.
Don't forget! We have a new session available at Idsall 8-10 Fridays
Chris and Sarah have managed to organise an extra session for Friday evening at Idsall Sports Centre, Shifnal. This session runs from 8pm - 10pm. It's a bit late but if you can make it, that'd be great!
Great Success! - The 'Bring a Friend for Free' Session!
Sunday's 'Bring a Friend for Free' session was a great success. We had all 4 trampolines in operation with an average of 9 people per trampoline. We hope all friends that came enjoyed themselves and will continue to come to the club. You're certainly more than welcome. 11:30 Sunday is the time, Phoenix Sports Centre is the place.

We now have our own club mascot
Steve (Natalie's dad) has managed to find a fantastic toy phoenix with its wings spread just like our logo.
We'll be taking it to all the competitions as our mascot for good luck.
Well done Steve. A fantastic job in finding it.
We thought about making a mini Phoenix leotard for it so if there are any seamstresses out there get in touch.

Successful Fundraising
Matthew's mum has managed to get her company, Fujitsu, to donate £350 towards the trampoline club. This is great news and hopefully the start of bigger and better things to come. Well done Mo! There are plans to have a photo session when the cheque is handed over. Of course it will appear on this web-site and we'll send it to the Shropshire Star too! There is also a possibility of a further £1500 from Sport Unlimited and approximately £1500 transferring from Madeley Court.
